QSolid: Second Collaborative Meeting in Karlsruhe

From 28 February to 2 March 2023, the QSolid partners met at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) for their second Collaborative Meeting. Almost 130 members of the consortium participated on site.

After a welcome by QSolid coordinator Frank Wilhelm-Mauch of Forschungszentrum Jülich, the first day was filled with many tutorials, company pitches and informal discussions where participants from different fields of expertise could engage and brainstorm across disciplines. The second day of the meeting was dedicated to discuss the ongoing work progress and challenges within Work Packages. Breakout sessions on topics that required in-depth discussions were held to facilitate alignment within but also across Work Packages. The third and last day of the meeting focused even more on this aspect as the critical path was presented and discussed with all partners.

Standing dinners in the evening further offered the perfect opportunity to discuss the 30 posters that partners had brought to Karlsruhe. The session was a success and people gathered around the posters to discuss the presented work. A highlight talk with Dennis Rieger from KIT about the “Observation of Josephson Harmonics in Tunnel Junctions” and a laboratory visit to the KIT closed the meeting.

The third Collaborative Meeting of the consortium is already being planned: it is to take place in October 2023 in Jena, hosted by QSolid partner Leibniz IPHT.
