Karlsruher Institut für Technologie

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is a public research university in Karlsruhe, Germany. The institute is a national research center of the Helmholtz Association. Combining experiment and theory, researchers at KIT seek to understand quantum phenomena in superconducting quantum systems, and to develop novel devices as building blocks for quantum technologies.

Role within QSolid

KIT’s role within QSolid is to lead work package 2, “Element evolution”, which provides crucial upgrades to individual building blocks (such as qubits, amplifiers, couplers. etc.) used in the critical scaling path. To achieve their goals, KIT researchers work on three fronts: material science for quantum devices, quantum circuit design, and classical real-time control electronics.

Our vision for QSolid

Operating coherent superconducting hardware will allow us to better understand the quantum world around us and build a quantum intuition. In the long term, maybe we will no longer find quantum mechanics so weird.
